Experimental Study on the Effect of Several Ginseng Preparations on Plasma Free Eatty Acid Levels

Abstract
|
|
|
Sequential changes of plasma FFA, TG and glucose levels were determined during fasting and after
administration of various ginseng products in both mine healthy men and eight adult rabbits.
The following results were obtained.
1. Plasma FFA were elevated on continuing fasting state in both human and animal whereas TG and glucose revealed the tendency of decrease.
2. Plasma FFA of rabbits lowered significantly with parenteral administration of ginseng extract 15 mg/kg. However TG and glucose kept the level unaffected.
3. Plasma FFA of human volunteers were elevated with ginseng tea, 15mg/kg equivalent ginseng extract, accompanied by stable TG and glucose level.
4. Plasma FFA of human voluteers were elevated markedly with ginseng extract 15mg/kg.
5. The probable reason for the discrepancy between animal and clinical;. experiment were discussed.
